So What’s the Problem with GMOs? They have never been proven safe. Not only that, the only long term study ever conducted, showed that rats fed GMO crops developed tumors at an alarming rate.
I know what you might be thinking, “I eat healthy. I doubt I’m eating GMOs.” WRONG. You are eating them, trust me. If you eat tortilla chips, potato chips, corn or anything with corn – that includes high fructose corn syrup or corn syrup, anything with sugar, canola oil, cottonseed oil, protein bars, cereal, or cereal bars, bread, mayonnaise, salad dressing, ketchup, Asian food, Mexican food, any kind of soy burger, vegetarian meat substitute or tofu, eggs, luncheon meat, or any meat, chicken, or pork (because animals eat GMO crops and then it is passed on to us) or let’s just say anything in a box or bag that is NOT USDA Certified Organic, you are eating GMOs.
At the moment, about 90% of all crops of the following are genetically modified: corn, soy, canola, sugar, and cotton.
Would the FDA let us eat something that was bad for us? Uh, can you say big Ag business (which fuels political campaigns with their sphere of influence and money)? A huge coincidence occurred when GMOs were introduced 20 years ago. The company, Monsanto, that makes Roundup pesticide, also made and patented the Roundup ready GMO seeds. These genetically altered seeds could withstand tons of the pesticide spray, unlike natural seeds. The former Vice President of Monsanto, Michael R. Taylor, was coincidentally the Deputy Commissioner for Policy at the FDA when GM seeds were introduced. He said that these seeds were no different and needed no study. This is also the guy you can thank for the Bovine Growth Hormone in your milk. You’re welcome.
I don’t need to reinvent the wheel and write about it because there are experts out there who have already presented this story. I ask you to look at the following 10 minute video to catch up on how this national travesty came to be and what it is doing to our health. It is the most important 10 minutes you can spend as an investment to your health and the health of your children. You will be riveted and probably angry after you watch it.

I am going to re-run some of my first blogs. They deal with GMOs and why I have a problem with them being on our tables.
This was so informative. I’m becoming more educated on the importance of organic and avoiding GMOs, and this totally brings the message home. What an important effort – if only we could gain more traction. Thanks for sharing!
Thank you, Lisa. I just looked at your blog. My mouth is watering for those biscuits!
Thanks, Lauren! Glad you enjoyed it 🙂 Looking forward to more great stuff from you.
Super informative…..I feel certain the situation is the same in Italy. 😦
