A monumental shift in consciousness is happening with regard to what we eat. I can see it happening when I walk into my grocery store and the organic non-GMO items are all picked over and the “garbage” is still stocked. I can tell that change is happening when my friends email me questions about what to eat if they want to stay away from GMOs and processed foods. I picked my son up from school early the other day so we could go to the movies. It was a rare treat (for me) because he hates to miss any amount of school. The most common genetically modified organisms (GMO) offenders are: corn, soy, canola oil, sugar and cottonseed oil. There are others but start with these. Avoid these or use USDA certified organic.

Here you go. Warning, you’ll be damn mad you watched this the next time you go to your favorite Mexican restaurant and reach for a tortilla chip. You’ll never look at it with such drooling adoration again. Curse you, Monsanto. I loved chips and queso. I live in Texas for crying out loud and nothing goes better with a Margarita!
So What’s the Problem with GMOs? They have never been proven safe. Not only that, the only long term study ever conducted, showed that rats fed GMO crops developed tumors at an alarming rate.
I know what you might be thinking, “I eat healthy. I doubt I’m eating GMOs.” WRONG. You are eating them, trust me. If you eat tortilla chips, potato chips, corn or anything with corn – that includes high fructose corn syrup or corn syrup, anything with sugar, canola oil, cottonseed oil, protein bars, cereal, or cereal bars, bread, mayonnaise, salad dressing, ketchup, Asian food, Mexican food, any kind of soy burger, vegetarian meat substitute or tofu, eggs, luncheon meat, or any meat, chicken, or pork (because animals eat GMO crops and then it is passed on to us) or let’s just say anything in a box or bag that is NOT USDA Certified Organic, you are eating GMOs.
